I bought a 10mp …

…and two month later there was a 12mp. Every year and month cameras with more pixel come to the market. What brings us this high amount of millions of pixels? How is transformed the light in pixel?

The images are captured in electronic form, the language is knew as pixels, this devices CCD (Charge Coupled Device) or CMOS (Complementary metal oxide semiconductor) is employed as the image sensor in the digital camera. This sensors converting the light in electronic forms. A collection of light sensitive diodes which accumulate electrons when shoot by a ray of light. The sensor react separately to the three basic colours red, blue and green (RBG) and store it in the memory of the digital camera. Both CCD and CMOS sensor works at the same way at first, for converting the light in electronic charges, millions of pixel and each of which forms a part of the whole image. For this task the sensors are using different methods.

Also important in this point is the lens, optical or digital zooms enlarges the image with the lens magnification. The lens capture the light to the sensor, the sensor give this to the viewfinder or LCD, a good lens brings more quality of the picture.

The resolution of the picture is with a high amount of pixel better and it can be enlarge without the ‘out of focus’ effect. What I also often use, I cut the pictures for my photo-cards. I have a wonderful picture from my cat, I shoot years ago with my old Sony (Minolta) reflex camera. I tried to cut but my cat was blurry and the picture lost the details, so I let it as it is.

with Photoshop ore Photoshop Elements I can do it more exactly, so that only the cow stands in the picture with an other background.

The print with enlargements of the photo need at least 300DPI. I print with an HP D5400 with 1200DPI, so I need for my print a higher resolution as with 300 DPI, but I use this number of DPI not often, only for objects or black and white. A rule say you need by a 300DPI print for a page 5×7: 3 mega pixel, page 8×10: 7 mega pixel , for example. And by the way, the difference between high and low resolution of a print of a picture is hard to see, also from experts.

But you need, for example, for a screen resolution of 1024×768 < ( less) than 1 mega pixel.

The right digital Camera

It isn’t to believe but I stood in this store, around me hundreds of digital cameras and all producer announced for his camera that was the best on the market. Sincere, first time I took a look and went at home, I access my computer and begin to google. I searched for digital cameras landscape, flowers, digital cameras weight, kit, autofocus, manually, digital cameras pixel, file-format, programs. I found a lot of stuff and began to read, but I had to stop because I would be read always yet today.

I figured out my need, so I narrow my search slowly. I want a digital camera for posting photographs of landscape and flowers on my website, I would be able to make graphics with the photos, print and I need for this a higher resolution of my pictures. In this time I shoot with my Nikon F601 and a lens Nikkor prime 55mm f/2.8 and Sigma zoom 28-105 f/4-5.6, that isn’t much speed.

I mad a list and was shocked about the final sum it was an investment. My budget was not so much, I also needed a printer, ink and paper. It went to be a hard decision. In consideration how I intend to use my new digital camera, I sorted out.

I need a high resolution. A higher number of pixels, means a higher the resolution which can make photos to be enlarged without losing image quality.

The high resolution of pictures need more memory and so a camera with only a built-in memory wasn’t it. I need a card slot for external and additional memory, what allow to change full memory cards conveniently while I am shooting my pictures.

I had in this store the cameras hold and tested the comfortable holding, also a Nikon D3, but …the price. What new was for me the LCD, nothing to say, I haven’t looked about it, but the button to shot, the viewfinder, the bayonet connection, the cap from the slot of the memory card, the adjustments for aperture and exposure, and the possibility to shot manually. My hands are small so I since ever make a test, that I find the buttons without problems.

The LCD, this screen is a funny thing. I can look my photos just after I shoot. But it uses a lot of battery as the zoom lens. The most of time I don’t use it, this is my 35mm history, I look at home on my computer.

I shoot with my 35mm Nikon F601 nearly a year pictures with one battery. The digital camera use up batteries fast and I’ve to take batteries rechargeable. An AC adapter for the cameras are a good investigation. It isn’t a good thing, when you see a great picture and the battery of the camera is empty or the memory is full, so I have always batteries and memory cards in my bag.

The lenses, in a review I red a good word to this:

“Every owner of an interchangeable-lens camera is faced with the dilemma of picking the most appropriate lenses to buy, than deciding which to use.”

I have for my Nikon F601 a Nikkor prime 55mm f/2.8, and the Sigma zoom 28-105 and I lived good with this two lenses. I don’t capture sport events or scenes with much movements, but a little bit faster zoom can be. So my pictures of the ocean and clouds more alive. This time I would also buy a macro lens 90,100 or 105mm f/2.8.

Sell your photos online

How can you do it and what is the basic you need to consider?

- What categories are popular with buyers?

- Find out where your prospective clients go to buy their photos?

- Search on your marketplace and look how you can offer something different.

The people online are buying photos for their websites, popular are current: photos of electronics, photos of businessmen and women, photos of money and other photos that may be beneficial to their website or business . Also unique photos of sporting events, nature shots, unique celebrity shots and one-of-a-kind images are also very popular. The internet is moving fast, the popular categories are changing and new trends emerge. You need to be able to move with them.

Find out where your prospective clients go to buy their current photos and make yourself visible there. You can sell your photos by your own site, but protect your pictures. Sell them to stock photography sites, in my Forum you will find a few sites, or you can sell your photos on eBay. A photo taken once can then be downloaded by buyers over and over again, is a very popular way for selling your photos online.

If you are selling on eBay with resell rights then you are giving your customer the right to resell your image. If you sell with full rights then you will not be able to sell the photo later on because you will no longer be in possession of the rights. If you sell with public usage rights your customer will not be able to resell the photo but they will be able to publicly display your photos. You will be able to sell these photos to an unlimited amount of people.

Take your photos in categories that we already know to be popular with buyers. How you provide some sort of twist on an already established theme? Go to the stock photography sites, do some research in the popular categories. This will give you a feel for the photos that are popular as well as start fuelling you with some ideas on how you can start to put on your own unique spin and make a decision on how you can come up with something different.

Setting up a cron job

I’ve to setup a cron job for my autoresponder and my site e-cards. I never thought that it is so complicated. I searched by google and found a-z versions of this in the foren, also the phpinfo by my host hasn’t result. Today I make a new start and than I’ll see, php is php.

And I found it:

The program give the confirmation that now the files are found, OK!

The big giveaway actions are in the moment. I’ve found a lot for my toolbar of my sites. The ready sites are thin but the icons are smart.

Than I loaded down a package with MRR, but this stuff is from 1998-2002, free but sometimes the e-books and files arn’t open with Vista because it was written for Windows95/98. This stuff to offer is a joke, really.

Ok, now I go a little bit in my garden and than I start again with my setup of the cron job.

Free Downloads

I have created two sites for my safelist with free downloads of pictures. The landscape photos are shot with a Nikon 40x and so its a high resolution and good as screensaver to use.

I take in the moment a little bit sun and relax, before I new start. I live where I also make my holidays and it is a wonderful, little part of the world.

My pets like it, when I go with them around and see that I work in my garden. From time to time comes one and I stroke my dog o cat head.

Garden

When the summer starts in Sicily is the oleander full of blooms.

The other flowers have a little problem with the sun, specially the roses, but the cacti, succulent-plants and gazania brings always a bloom. Before the roses have only little flowers, perhaps the sun let its very early open, I mad a few photos.

This photos I use for my ecards and photo-paints. I change the RGB compilation with little programs, the background and highlights. Sometimes it is funny to see which effect brings a variation of 1 point +/-, with Photoshop (Adobe), Paint Shop (Corel), Photofiltre and Picasa, I could transform all pictures in wonderful paints. The most of the time, I didn’t because I like the bloom as it’s.

My Landscape

One reason why I stayed where I live is the wonderful landscape. Sicily is a small island in the Mediterranean Sea and its characterized through the history. The people are the same as anywhere in the world, there is no difference.

I have before me the sea, the city and behind me a annealed volcano, the mountain by its eruptions have formed.

I love the sunsets and to photograph the sun’s rays to penetrate through the clouds and the sunrise with the little purple colored landscape grasped.

The golden or magic hours for the photographer, hours after sunrise and before sunset. The reason is that the light is not directly applicable to the object seems, what we want to photograph, the sun is at this time the image of a sensual depth.

If you have a digital camera and a software has to post, there are several possibilities. I guess the landscape at different times of day and edit it in RAW to. Try for the same lighting conditions with different settings of the digital camera. Take your landscape from different locations incorporated. I like to wander, and have the long bay between Cefalù and Capo Zafferano already photographed all sorts of positions.

Now and then I forget it, but there are some rules that must be respected and I am always impressed by other photographers. Mother’s Day

My mother are dying by one’s own hand. She had four children and a husband left. We didn’t notice how she felt, busy with our work and life. Today after years are passed, one thought, I hope your decision was the best for you.

ecardmax

I bought a few month ago from ecardmax the program ecardmax2008. This program include also newsletter as massmail and special offer as massmail to my customer. I give in all emails I have and create my message than I started to send, I also have a testmail extra as the webmaster-mail.
As the program said: ‘all are done’, I go to my testmail…nothing. I wait one hour…nothing. So I wrote a ticket to my host but there is no help. Than I wrote a ticket to ecardmax, the answer was, they need a few days per this massmail-function. But the support provided me a file for this newsletter. The support said but I wait till now and the date passed.

True, I never thought that this the program, after I had so much trouble with the mail-functions from my host. I spend for this to clear up, a full night.
